Fort William and Lochaber, surrounded in the most spectacular country side that Scotland has to offer. A definite must visit if your the outdoor type. Of course fr those that need to relax you will also find peace and tranquillity with plenty of local pubs to idle time and to make friends. The highlands is home to the famous Ben Nevis Britain's highest mountain at 1344M and where you will get to enjoy a dram of our famous Ben Nevis Whisky. - See more at: Ben Nevis Whisky Book yourself a guided tour around the 178 year old distillery where you will meet a giant of a man called Hector McDram.
Of course Fort Williams and Lochaber is not all about Whisky and idle moments, it is about adventure, touring around if you so wish by car or by bus, for the walkers you may want to visit the Castle and museums whilst your out hiking the popular walking trails, being mindful of bikers passing by. With the abundance of activities one that is popular for many is climbing Ben Nevis itself. Advice must be taken before you do as it can be dangerous.
Moving on to the other activities more suitable for all abilities a visit to the Nevis Range. Take a look at the website for all the information you will need from the high wire adventure, snow boarding to mountain biking. and then if stretching your legs is on the agenda take one of the trails West Highland Way, East HIghland Way and the great Glenway. Travel up the mountain Gondola at the Nevis Range, slip in those skies or snow board for a down hill thrill or taking the safer option there is the ski bike, ( just for people like me ).
Moving over to Kinlochleven, where if your into wall climbing try the icefactor wall standing as high as 600M. If the water draws you in, you could find yourself accelerating down Loch Linnhe on the Seaxplorer RIB, one way to explore the beauty of the wildlife on a one or two hour eco - adventure.
More on water get ready to get wet. The thrill of canyoning, vertical descents to make your heart thump and sliding through natural water flumes the jump and absell of water falls. As if that was not enough, yu have the choice of White water rafting, yakking, kayaking, mountain biking, paint balling and more climbing.
Over an onto the Ardverike Estate, better known as Glen Bogle in the BBC drama series Monarch of the Glen, it was actually the Monarch of the Glen that inspired me to first visit Scotland.. At the Ardverike Estate you can organise yourself a fantastic off road quad or 4X4 experience once again in scenery that will blow you away.
Lastly if you still have any energy left in you. there is always mountaineering at Abacus with Mike and photography enthusiasts take your camera and join Karl of Glencoe Photography on a Safari exploring the sights of Glencoe.
