This is a beautiful cottage I have personally stayed in a few times now. In fact this year earlier in the summer I spent a few weeks that just whizzed by I found myself not wanting to leave. Each day with the sunshine I got to see close up the boats that sailed by and never a dull moment watching them and the friendly hellos from those on board.
The cottage clearly seen is right on the Caledonia Canal where the bridge opens up several times a day to let the boats pass by, If it is walking your into you have the pathway right along the canal either side to explore. A mile away is the town center of Inverness, a 20 minute walk depending on how quick you walk but there are regular buses on the door step that pass by, you can just as easily catch. A step out of the cottage by the front door, and a few moments later you have a park with a boating lake, the leisure centre, anyone for a swim or in keeping fit you have the gym, right next door t the leisure centre there is an ice skating ring usually open on Sundays to the public.. Fields all around where you will see players using them for rugby practice, Fancy a quiet stroll and a coffee then visit the cafe shop in side the nursery also in the vicinity of the leisure centre, a real country feel and right on the door step.
Now a holiday cottage for visitors to Inverness, but once belonged to the bridge keeper all those many years a go around 1874 It has a cosy double room with a generous sized twin room, in the sitting area where you see pictures of the cottage as it was, there is even a real fire you are able to light as smokeless coal is provided along with the wood and fire lighters. Making a very cosy feel for the place. And all the amenities you will need for your stay. Of course for a much better idea and to book you will need to go here The cottage is popular so book early. Across the water you will be looking straight at the Jacobite cruise tour. With over 40 years experience in providing tours of the famous Loch Ness, which simply is over flowing with myths of the Loch Ness monster, a must do trip and a great way to take in the stunning scenery. of the Loch. All contact details and available times of the year they sail is on thier website.
Awarded the best cruise provider of the year by trip advisor you can see here why and what people have to say about their own cruise experience..
For a good night out go in to Inverness town center. There you will find an array of restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels, all the usual high street shops with a nice shopping center right next to the rail station and they even have thier own castle up on the hill over looking Inverness, much photographed, The red sandstone structure evident today was built in 1836 by architect William Burn. It is built on the site of an 11th-century defensive structure. See explore Inverness Every thing is within easy reach. A pleasant time to be had with friendly locals and plenty of english who have happily settled way up there in the Highlands.
If you drive be prepared for a long journey. By train is a better option, the scenery is superb and makes such a relaxing long time of travelling. and of course even quicker is to fly up as Inverness have thier own airport, once you arrive, it will cost about £17 for a taxi but well worth it. If you get to go why not let me know how you got on. Infact if you go anywhere in Scotland and have had a good or bad experience with your accommodation, with your details I will blog about it especially if it worth listing on my own accommodation site.
